The Idea
On New Year's Eve 2020, we had an idea. What if we could put pizza inside a bagel?
The first bagel didn’t quite work—but, after months of experimenting, tinkering, flavor profiling, and devouring…we finally cracked it.
Word spread quickly, and soon everyone in Woodstock wanted to try a stuffed bagel. Within weeks, what started out as a passion project soon evolved into a bonafide bagel business.
The People
Co-founders Jeremy and Ali were born and raised in New York - Long Island and Woodstock respectively - and fell in love in New York City 6+ years ago.
Things were going exactly to plan with each of their careers in the Big Apple until Jeremy crafted the first Classic Pizza Bagel. What started as a nice little hobby morphed into a boundless obsession—and we think your tastebuds will be very grateful for it.
Jeremy Rhodes is a Certified Management Accountant. Prior to starting Moonrise Bagels, Jeremy was a Director of Accounting for Union Square Hospitality Group, one of the premier restaurant groups in the world led by Danny Meyer. Throughout his seven year tenure, Jeremy was responsible for the financial health and planning of multiple businesses in the group, implementing several large business intelligence projects, and was integral in building an industry-leading data and analytics culture.
Ali Chetkof, a native Woodstocker, has a demonstrated history of driving awareness, engagement and brand equity for both small businesses and retail powerhouses and has years of experience story-telling across all media platforms. Currently, Ali is an Associate Vice President at Jennifer Bett Communications, a bi-coastal PR firm that represents fast-growing venture-backed start-ups and uniquely competitive brands who are addressing the evolving consumer market.
Building a business is hard. We would still be making bagels in our kitchen if we weren’t given the opportunity to connect with business leaders and professionals who opened up their schedules to speak with us and offer their advice. We want to offer other entrepreneurs the same opportunity we had.
